How to request it

  1. Tell us when you book.Mention the language you prefer on the phone, on the booking form, or at the front desk.
  2. We arrange the interpreter. There is no charge to you, and you do not need to bring a family member to translate.
  3. Your appointment runs normally. The interpreter joins so you can ask questions and understand the answers.

What interpretation includes

  • Family appointments, walk-in visits and cardiology consultations
  • Explaining a diagnosis, a prescription or a test result
  • Consent conversations before a procedure
  • Questions you want to ask the doctor before you leave

How much notice we need

Common languages can usually be arranged the same day, including for walk-in visits. For a less common language, give us two working days if you can, and reception will confirm before your appointment.

If the interpreter is not ready in time, we will offer you another appointment rather than proceed without one.

What it does not cover

Interpretation is for your care at the clinic. It is not a translation service for documents, letters from other organisations, or immigration paperwork.

Written material can be read out to you in your language during the appointment.

Three ways to start

Enrol, book, or just walk in.

New patients are welcome at 1005 Paisley Road. Bring your health card, and tell us if you would like an interpreter.
